Sewing A Button On By Hand

By Judith Turner I have so many people come into my shop saying something like I cant even sew on a button. How sad it is that a whole generation has lost out on learning how to do just the basic skills of sewing. Sewing a button on to clothes doesnt have to be difficult. In fact I take just a few minutes to sew them on. Here is the precise procedure that you can use to sew on buttons like a professional: 1. Pull the thread from the reel and pull out to arms length. 2. Now take your arm back in and pull the thread out a second time, so that you have a very long piece of cotton. 3. Fold the cotton into two making sure that the ends are even 4. You now have a fold one end and two joins the other end 5. Thread the two joins into the eye of the needle. (Lick the ends if necessary to moisten) 6. You will now have four threads in the needle. 7. Knot the end of the four threads. To make a knot I just roll the end of the cotton onto my finger and pull the thread through the hole in the cotton. Cut off the ends to the edge of the knot. 8. Sew the knot onto the fabric where you are going to sew the button going from the right side through to the wrong side 9. This means that the knot will be underneath the button 10. Bring the needle back through the fabric to where the knot is 11. Put the button on to the needle and push the button down on to the fabric, covering the knot 12. Now put the needle through the opposite hole on the button and back through to the opposite side of the fabric. 13. If you want to come back through one more time you can or you can knot off by putting the thread through itself and pulling the thread. Do this twice and cut the thread. Once this is done, you should have a professionally looking button! This article is written by Judith Turner, founder of GenieCentre.Com. What is Trigeminal Neuralgia and Why Should You Care About It? Trigeminal Neuralgia Series 1

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Cynthia_S.] Cynthia S. In this Trigeminal Neuralgia article series, we take a look at Trigeminal Neuralgia, its symptoms, diagnosis and treatment. Trigeminal Neuralgia is also called Tic Douloureux, which is French for painful tic. It is characterized by facial pain which may occur upon eating, shaving or touching. This disease is not common. It occurs in 150 per million people per year and usually occurs in patients over 50 years of age. Trigeminal Neuralgia is a disorder of the Trigeminal Cranial Nerve. We have twelve pairs of cranial nerves on either side of the head. The Trigeminal nerve is the fifth cranial nerve. The Trigeminal nerve has three branches: V1 (Ophthalmic) affects the eye, forehead and nose
V2 (Maxillary) affects the upper teeth, gum and lip, the cheek, lower eyelid and the side of the nose.
V3 ((Mandibular) affects lower teeth, gum, lower lip and jaw. Symptoms usually occur on one side of the face and can range from sudden, sharp, electrical or throbbing pain and can occur throughout the day. What causes Trigeminal Neuralgia? Theories abound, but it is commonly believed to stem from compression of the Trigeminal nerve, due to a blood vessel pressing on the nerve, tumors in the skull, or multiple sclerosis. Many people go undiagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia because symptoms mimic other conditions such as dental problems and migraines. In our next series, we take a look at how Trigeminal Neuralgia is diagnosed as well as conventional medical treatment. There are also [http://wellness.onyxopinions.com/neuralgia.html] holistic Trigeminal Neuralgia treatments which also give some relief. Typical Rates & Fees Associated with Business Loans

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=John_Williams]John Williams When acquiring a business loan, one can expect to pay different rates and fees based upon the years the business has been in operation, the owners personal credit history, the businesss credit history, and whether or not the loan is secured or unsecured. If the loans are guaranteed, whether or not they are by the government or some other agency can affect the rates as well. Interest Rates are controlled by usury laws. A lender can safely charge a business up to 10% interest per year and not violate any usury laws. Depending on the type of lender you seek, personal or commercial, this may not always hold true. There are different usury laws governing personal lenders and those that are protected by the Federal Government (commercial banks, credit unions, savings and loans). Typical lenders charge between 6-7%, however, as stated earlier; financial security in the business and the owner play an important role in establishing interest rates. Often times commercial banks offer fixed interest rates, but more often than not, the rates are flexible after a given number of years. Government loans are offered to small businesses that meet certain criteria. These loans are offered at the approximate US Treasury note rate of + 1.7% (fixed rate). Other agencies and specially funded business loans offer rates that are decided by special committees. Usually they are lower because these loans are only available to certain business owners. Fees come in different increments based upon the institution you choose to borrow money from. Typical fees include application fees that can run up to $500, although, some institutions and loan companies do not charge any application fee. Closing Costs which usually run within 1-2% of the original amount borrowed. Common commercial loans that are under $500,000 are usually at least 2%. Loans above $500,000 usually have fees ranging from 1.5-1.75%. Other fees that one might encounter when borrowing money for his or her business are: appraisal fees, attorney fees, and environmental assessments. These fees may or may not be included in the closing costs. If not included, these fees may mount up to several thousand dollars. Its important to ask your financial institution which fees are included in the final closing costs. Government loans and loans that are offered through agencies that cater to certain small business owners offer fees that are based upon the project size. Most are usually at least 3%, some agencies charge the exact amount of all filing fees and an additional 1-2% of the original loan amount. Many individuals choose to refinance their residence as means for a business loan. Often times these loans can be acquired much easier than a business only loan. Interest rates are often lower and fixed for longer amounts of time, as well. Fees usually range below 2% and can be included in the loan. Having equity in your home may enable business owners to borrow money with lesser interest rates and fees. However, it is a risky plan. If your payments are not made on-time and in full each month, your home may be sold to cover the loan. Simple Exercise For A Bad Day

By Brett Riesenhuber Some mornings I wake up, or just get up out of bed because I never slept that night. What I did was spend the whole night tossing, just trying to sleep. Motivation leaves a bit to be desired due to the fact that my eyes are half closed and drooping towards the floor. So the question of a workout comes to bear. Do I even want to exercise? I tell you, I don't want to get out of bed. Sleep is desired, but it isn't happening anyway. Well since I still have an extra 15 pounds of 'winter fat' that I want removed from my abdominal areaguess I should do something. What does one do in this kind of situation? Keep it simple and move your body. Get out of bed, kill a couple double espressos, and go do something. Obviously I probably am not going to hit it like I would with the elusive full nights' rest, but something here is better than nothingcalorie intake will probably be the same for the day, if not more. So burning extra calories is the way to go. Being one of the top Fitness Professionals in the South Bay Area, I know that I need to burn an extra 3500 calories per week just to drop ONE pound of body fat. Based on that information, I should do something, anything! Here is some good news in this case: an easy cardiovascular workout will burn a greater percentage of fat calories than a hard cardio session will. Wait, did I say that? Oh yes, that is rightand that is why we use target heart rate during aerobic exercise! Notice on the charts that your target is not 80-100% of your max, but 60-80%? That is because it has been shown that a higher percentage of the calories burned from fat during exercise can be obtained at the lower heart rate levels, and more carbohydrates (and even muscle) can be burned at higher heart rate levels! Now about the length time to exerciseyea, you got it, have to go longer. We need to go a bit longer time length because we will be burning fewer calories at the lower level heart rate, but higher percentage of fat. BUT on this day the goal is just to do it! Just getting the lower intensity level session will burn a higher percentage of fat versus carbohydrates, as well as just burning something! Remember that burning something on a bad day is better than burning nothing due to the bad start. PLUS you will feel better from the endorphins released during exercise! So what to do? How about a walk? Take the dog out for a walk, or hit the park, par course, track, or neighborhood streets. Raining? Get an umbrella. Bored? Get an iPod. Cold? Wear a jacket or sweatshirt. Don't make the excuse, after all, you already are getting past the 'I'm tired' excuse! The bottom line is that just getting out an doing some form of exercise on a bad day is better than doing nothing when it comes to health, fitness, and sustained weight loss. Good luck in your program and go exercise! By Brett A. Riesenhuber 2007 PrimePhysique, LLC http://SanJoseBootCamp.com/ http://PrimePhysique.com/ Brett A. 7 Deadly Cover Writing Sins

By Vincent Czaplyski Don't start off your job search with one (or more) strikes
against you by committing any of these common cover letter
blunders. Each is easy to avoid, but they can sink your
chances of an interview if you include them in your letter. 1. Sending your letter to the wrong person, location, or
department. Do you really want your letter to land you a job at the
company you're sending it to? Then take the time to verify
that you have the proper name, title and address for the
hiring manager or other decision maker who should receive
it. Unless you're absolutely sure you already have the most up-
to-date contact information, take a few minutes to call and
ask. Otherwise you may as well not bother sending your
letter - it most likely won't reach the intended recipient.
And if it does, he or she won't be impressed that you didn't
bother to take this simple step. 2. Irritating your potential employer with a pushy, arrogant
or conceited tone to your letter. Are you truly God's gift to humanity? If not, chances are
you ought to come across with a bit of humility, not
braggadocio. Save the "I am too good for you not to hire me"
stuff for when you're bragging to your friends about the
great job you just landed. (Even they probably won't be
impressed - and they already like you!) Instead, let your
accomplishments and skills speak for themselves. 3. Typos, misspellings, punctuation or grammatical errors. There's no excuse for leaving any of these mistakes in a
cover letter (or a resume for that matter). If such matters
truly aren't your strong suite, ask a friend to look your
letter over for you. Blatant errors like these are just one
more reason for a hiring manager to shunt your resume and
cover letter aside, never to be seen again. Why? Because
they'll think you are too lazy, too uncaring or too
unskilled to be a good fit at their company. 4. Writing rambling, unfocused sentences and paragraphs. Few hiring managers want to think they're reading a newly
discovered missing page from James Joyce's Ulysses.
Especially when all they really want to understand is why
they should read the enclosed resume. Tightly written
sentences and three or four short paragraphs that
communicate the answer to that question will help ensure
your resume gets read, not tossed. 5. Writing long letters, even if well focused and well
written. Here's a good rule to live by: Don't go over one page. It's
a cover letter, not your autobiography. Capture your
reader's attention quickly and impress him or her with your
well written main points. Then let your resume do the rest
of the talking. Until the interview of course. 6. Writing a letter that is all about you, and not about
what you can do for your prospective employer. Do you listen to WIFM? Sure you do. That's What's In it For
Me, the little radio station in our heads that everyone
listens to, including the person who receives your letter.
Your potential employer wants to know what you can do for
him or her, not the other way around. Make sure your letter
highlights why you will be able to help their company sell
more widgets, design better satellites or otherwise make its
future brighter. 7. Using odd layouts, too many fonts, colors and other
attention getting devices. With rare exception, attention getters like overly busy
layouts, exotic multi-color designs and odd sized paper have
no place in a cover letter or resume. Save it for the
decorations at the next office party. Follow these common sense suggestions and you'll write a
cover letter that is bound to make you stand out-and land
you an interview. Copyright 2005 by Vincent Czaplyski, all rights reserved. You may republish this article in its entirety, as long as

How Men And Women Try To Trick Each Other

By Scot McKay What is the most infamous male stereotype when it comes to dating? Certainly the one about men trying every trick in the book to get a woman to sleep with him has to head the list. No need to elaborate. There are plenty of web sites that I can refer all yall to (regardless of gender) if you want to see how that works. As we touched upon in the last newsletter, there are plenty of pick-up artists specializing in helping men tune up their trickery. The truth is, however, that men dont necessarily have the market cornered when it comes to keeping their intentions under the table. Women are quite capable of their fair share. My belief is that the most common brand of dating trickery proffered by women tends to fly under the radar a bit easier, however, and therefore is hardly ever (if at all) called out. Since women are a bit more subtle about all of this, Im going to focus the majority of this newsletter on understanding their side of the equation. After all, male trickery is altogether too obviouswhich continues to cause me sheer amazement at how often women fall for it. So what about the women? What do I mean? Here it is. Just like men try to trick women into sleeping with them way too early in the relationship, women tend to try to trick men into exclusive commitment way to early. Its absolutely true. And a woman has the ability to equip herself with a formidable set of tools when it comes to this stuff. Just like a woman can find herself in a mans bed and wonder how she got there, a man can very easily find himself in an exclusive relationship he may not have been ready for, and with a woman who may not even have been his first choice! How does she do this? Here are some examples of the tactics involved: 1) The Ultimatum This is the most objective approach. If a woman knows the man is interested, she will simply level an ultimatum. This may happen as soon as the woman realizes the man wants her sexually. In this case, the woman pulls every option off the table other than committing to her or walking away. This is unfair, of course, because it plays on a mans physical attraction in order to drive emotional involvement. 2) Extended Planning Shell buy tickets for a concert thats a month away. Shell invite him to join her for some killer party thats a few weeks (or months?) off. If she can get him to make some financial buy in (e.g. ticket price, renting a tux, etc.) then hell be more likely to stay around. In fact, the concept of commitment based on financial involvement is a well-known marketing principle. Here, as in so many facets of dating, sales tactics translate directly into relationship strategy. Watch for a future newsletter (or how about a podcast?) on that one. 3) Common Secondary Commitments This is something like Extended Planning, but with a subtle difference. Here we are talking about ongoing partnerships rather than one-time events. She may sign them both up for six weeks of salsa lessons. They may join a dinner party group with other couples knowing that it would be a major embarrassment to have to sever ties in the event of a breakup. If shes really astute, shell buy them season tickets for his favorite teamnice. 4) Marking Territory As soon as a man invites a woman into his private domain, he opens himself up to the female ritual of territory marking. If shes hanging out at his house and riding in his car, bear in mind the possibility that she may be interested in staking her claim to those places vis--vis other women in his life. Most of us know about the perfume on the pillow trick, where a woman sprays her perfume on a guys pillow so he can think of her when hes sleeping. But thats just one of a myriad of ways that a woman can make it improbable, if not impossible, that another woman would feel comfortable in his home or car. She can leave a change of clothes on his dresser, just in case. She can change shoes in his car and accidentally leave them behind the passengers seat in the back. She can smear makeup in places he may not notice but another woman would be sure to. She can brush her hair in the bathroom, all but making sure strands of her hair land in places where other women might notice it. And my all time favoriteshe might forget and leave her earrings on the end table in the living room (or some other place youll never see until the next time guests are over). Whatever happens, you can be sure if its done right most guys will be potentially horrified to invite other women over (although they shouldnt be, which is the topic of some other future newsletter). 5) Key Introductions He is introduced to all of her friends. He may even meet her parents, feeling like hes suffered whiplash given how sudden it was. She may even, if shes mastered the tactic, proactively seek to make friends with his friends. This is a particularly powerful approach that, if successful, means she has all but inextricably woven herself into his life. And if he ever tries to break up with her, imagine the effect of his own friends calling him to tell him how wrong he is. Out of hand. 6) Gifts She may buy a guy something nice. Depending upon the limits of her personal resources, we may be talking about something really nice. Guys famously tend to use this tactic on women, thinking that they can buy their way into a womans heart. Well, when a guy does something like this it generally backfires. Some women are creeped out by it, some women refuse nice gifts seeing potential ulterior motives behind them, and others simply take the gifts and offer only a thank you in return. The interesting part, however, is that a woman who knows how men think with regard to this process can capitalize upon it to drive commitment from a man. Think about ita man attempts to barrage a woman with gifts because he thinks it will help earn her affections. Why does he think like this? Simple. Because it would work on him. If a woman realizes this, she knows she has an angle with which she can get him to commit. The problem is that although gift-giving works on a man, its not for the expected reason. Rather than driving a warm-fuzzy nesting reflex, it just flat-out makes him feel guilty if he dumps her after getting such cool stuff from her. So whats the common thread here? Not surprisingly, the end result is likely to be the same for tricksters of both the male and female persuasion. In either case, if the end goal is reached its nothing more than an empty, Pyrrhic victory. The moral to this story? Save the tricks, be up-front, take things at a mutually-acceptable paceand have a symmetrical relationship based on depth rather than guilt or pressure. A Look at the Different Depression and Anxiety Medications

By Charles Donovan While it may be easy to recite the various brand names and generalize their benefits enough to know they put us (or are supposed to put us) in a better mood, for lack of a better term, the drugs themselves can all be categorized individually, each working in a slightly different way. The following is a list and very brief description, by category, of depression and anxiety medications currently prescribed by physicians. Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) SSRIs, which are fairly new to the arsenal of depression and anxiety medications, have gained immense popularity among prescribing psychiatrists within the past 10 years. They are usually prescribed during the early stages of depression, if a person has sought help and behavioral and/or psychotherapy has not proven effective enough. With appropriate dosage, SSRIs can "catch" depression before it becomes severe. Although they do not work for 20% to 40% of people who try them, their ability to work for people with minor (and even major) depressive illnesses makes them attractive enough to prescribing psychiatrists to try them first before moving on to more serious depression and anxiety medications and methods, if need be. SSRIs work on serotonin, one of the brain's three neurotransmitters. SSRIs Brand name (chemical name) Celexa (citalopram), Lexapro (escitalopram oxalate), Luvox (fluvoxamine), Paxil (paroxetine), Prozac (fluoxetine), Zoloft (sertraline) Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MOAIs) MAOIs are the type of depression and anxiety medications that work for people who are mildly depressed, develop mild depression over a long period of time, are overly sensitive to their environment, or who are easily able to emerge from periods of depression. People who demonstrate an excess of a particular activity (ie, overeating, oversleeping, emotional overreaction) as compensation with stress can benefit from MAOIs, which work on the three neurotransmitters (called monoamines) found in the brain: norepinephrine, serotonin, and dopamine. These are usually only prescribed when a person hasn't responded to any of the other types of depression and anxiety medications. A strict diet must be followed if taking an MAOI, because in conjunction with certain foods, the body can react with elevated blood pressure, headaches, fluctuating blood sugar (for people with diabetes), and in more severe cases, brain hemorrhage. Because of these risks, MAOIs were taken off the American market for a while, but were reintroduced for patients who haven't had luck with any other depression and anxiety medications. MAOIs Brand name (chemical name) Nardil (phenelzine), Parnate (tranylcypromine) Tricyclic Antidepressants (TCAs) Tricyclics have been available longer than any other depression and anxiety medications. In 1958, the first tricyclic, imipramine (Tofranil), was released to help combat major depression, and physicians saw a 70% positive response within their patients. Previously the only treatments for severely depressed patients were amphetamines and electroshock therapy. TCAs increase the brain's supply of serotonin and norepinephrine, two of the brain's three neurotransmitters, but it also affects some of the brain's other nerve impulses as well, and this allows for more side effects. Severely depressed and/or hospitalized patients see the most benefit from taking TCAs because of its sedative effect. In the past, patients were usually prescribed tricyclics before anything else, but with the movement of psychiatrists (and patients!) toward heading off depression before it becomes severe and/or chronic, TCAs are now usually only prescribed if the other types of depression and anxiety medications don't work. TCAs Brand name (chemical name) Adapin (doxepin), Anafranil (clomipramine) , Elavil (amitriptyline), Endep (amitriptyline), Ludiomil (maprotiline), Norpramin (desipramine) , Pamelor (nortryptyline), Pertofrane (desipramine), Sinequan (doxepin), Surmontil (trimipramine), Tofranil (imipramine), Vivactil (protriptyline) Non-specified or "Other" depression and anxiety medications
Because their chemical make-ups do not fit into any of the other categories, the following list of depression and anxiety medications can only be termed as "other." Wellbutrin, Desyrel, Remeron, and Effexor are prescribed most. Each of the four drugs affects at least one of the brain's three neurotransmitters (norepinephrine, serotonin, dopamine), and as a result, each has its own particular set of side effects. As a result, psychiatrists are much more likely to prescribe one of the other types of depression and anxiety medications (SSRIs, MAOIs, TCAs) before switching to one of these. In some instances, a patient's regimen is augmented by combining an SSRI or TCA with an"other" depression and anxiety medications, but because of an MAOI's particular chemical make-up and dietary requirements, it is prescribed alone. Brand names (chemical names) of Non-specified depression and anxiety medications Buspar (buspirone), Cymbalta (duloxetine), Desyrel (trazodone) , Effexor (venlafaxine), Edronax, Vestra (reboxetine), Remeron (mirtazapine), Serzone (nefazodone), Wellbutrin (bupropion). In August of 2004, the FDA approved the investigational drug Cymbalta (duloxetine HCl), which demonstrated rapid relief of anxiety symptoms associated with depression that was sustained for the length of the study period, according to new data published in the journal Depression and Anxiety. In clinical studies, researchers attribute the medication's effect on a broad spectrum of depression symptoms, which include emotional and painful physical symptoms as well as anxiety, to its dual reuptake inhibition of both serotonin and norepinephrine.

Quilts and Quilting

By Annabel Baker For centuries, the making of quilts and quilting has been a living craft, a necessity of the times, where people living in poverty could still provide something useful for their families. All early quilts were made from any scraps of fabric that came to hand. Subsequently, over the years, basic designs for quilts and quilting evolved and were passed down from generation to generation. Now, with such a range of designs, the skill in choosing fabrics, matching patterns and colours is exciting whether the quilt to be made is patchwork, appliqu or whole cloth. (The difference between these will be explained). The word quilt is English in origin, meaning a padded bed covering, but this definition hardly does justice to the quilts made in America by the early settlers. Given such wonderful names as Grandmothers Fan, Drunkards Path, Storm at Sea, Wedding Ring, Ohio Star, Log Cabin and Flock of Geese, our imagination is captured even before we see the quilt for real. We can also imagine the circumstances in which the early quilters worked, with groups of women seated around the quilting frame, working together to create the finished quilt. Such groups had a great social significance and would often have a party-like atmosphere. Special quilts would be made for occasions like engagements and weddings, and freedom quilts would be made and given to every young man on his twentieth birthday. Even today, the social significance of quilting remains, through the sharing of ideas and the spreading of designs to groups in all countries round the world. When you start to make your own quilts you will find that the satisfaction of seeing your finished quilt is such a wonderful experience. You will feel a great sense of achievement as your skill and creativity begin to grow. I would recommend that you always sign and date your quilt and also give it a name, after all it is yours and it is unique. I must warn you though, that after finishing your first quilt you may be so captivated by the possibilities of all the other techniques that this will be the first of many you make over the years to come! Is Provigil Effective for the Symptoms of ADD and ADHD?

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Jeannine_Virtue] Jeannine Virtue Provigil is an interesting drug. It keeps narcoleptics from falling asleep and it also appears to help people with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) stay focused. But how effective is Provigil for ADHD? That depends entirely on which study you review since Provigil has shown mixed results in studies related to ADHD treatment. The results of one study published in July 2000 were so disappointing that the manufacturer of the medication, Cephalon Inc., decided to pursue other indications for the drug. Then, in February 2001, the Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry published the results of a study that indicated potential benefit of Provigil (monafinil) as a once-daily ADHD treatment. The most recent research, performed by the manufacturer in an effort to gain FDA approval, showed significant improvement when compared to a placebo. Your body will be the best judge of Provigils worth as an ADD and ADHD treatment. But before you run to your doctors office asking for a prescription, there are side effects and warnings you need to be aware of. Provigil (modafinil) Side Effects: _ Headache. _ Blurred vision. _ Dry mouth. _ Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain. _ Constipation or diarrhea. _ Sleep disturbances/insomnia. _ Loss of appetite/weight loss. _ Stuffy nose. _ Back pain. _ Confusion. _ Anxiety and agitation. _ Nervousness, aggression, hostility. _ Unstable moods. _ Depression. _ Decreased sex drive. _ "Pins and Needles" feeling. _ Rash or itching. _ Dizziness. _ Widening of blood vessels. _ Weakness or loss of strength. _ High/increased blood pressure. _ Alteration in results of liver function tests. _ Chest pain. _ Increased heart rate. _ Drug dependence. _ Allergic reaction. Provigil may be habit forming and has the potential for abuse and dependence. You should discuss the abuse and dependence potential of Provigil with your doctor. This drug should not be taken by anyone who has been or currently is dependent on alcohol or drugs. Symptoms of an Provigil overdose might include excitation, agitation, insomnia, sleep disturbances, anxiety, irritability, aggressiveness, confusion, nervousness, tremor, palpitations, nausea, and diarrhea. Before taking Provigil, tell your doctor if you have; _ Left ventricular hypertrophy. _ Chest pain. _ Irregular heartbeats. _ History of heart attack. _ High blood pressure. _ Unstable angina. _ History of mental illness. _ Kidney disease _ Liver disease. Contact your doctor immediately or seek emergency medical attention if you experience any of the following uncommon but serious side effects: _ An allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; or hives). _ Irregular heartbeats. _ Low or high blood pressure. _ Shortness of breath. Provigil may decrease the effects of birth control pills as well as implantable formulations such as Norplant and Depo-Provera. Women should use a second, nonhormonal form of birth control while taking Provigil, and for one month after stopping Provigil, to prevent pregnancy. Before taking Provigil, tell your doctor if you are taking any of the following drugs: _ MAO inhibitors. _ Tricyclic antidepressants. _ Valium. _ Other stimulant medications. _ Seizure medications. _ Rifadin, Rimactane. _ Nizoral. _ Sporanox. _ Neoral, Sandimmune. _ theophylline. _ warfarin. _ propranolol. Currently about 20,000 people use Provigil off-label to treat the symptoms of ADHD. Doctors often prescribe drugs "off label,"meaning they prescribe the drug for a condition other than what was approved by the FDA. Though it is legal for doctors to prescribe drugs off-label, it is illegal for the drugmakers to market their drugs for off-label uses. Provigils manufacturer, Cephalon Inc., has requested FDA approval for Attenace, a reformulation using Provigils active ingredient, modafinil. By achieving FDA approval for Attenace Cephalon will be allowed to market modafinil for ADHD. Attenace is expected to hit pharmacy shelves in early 2006. Aromatherapy: Powerful Natural Antibiotic

By KG Stiles CINNAMON BARK (Cinnamomum zeylanicum)- A powerful antiseptic oil with a strong pungent, spicy aroma and reddish brown color. Cinnamon has a long tradition of use, having been produced in Sri Lanka for more than 2,000 years. Research shows that virus, bacteria, and fungus cannot survive in the presence of cinnamon oil. Cinnamon bark oil has even stronger antiseptic properties than Cinnamon Leaf and readily kills bacterial and fungal infections. Historically Cinnamon has been used in the Middle East and the Orient for combating viruses and infectious diseases. It has been used as a treatment for fever, diarrhea and menstrual irregularities, as well as indigestion, cramps, nausea, vomiting and colic. Inflammations of the throat and pharynx may also be relieved through its use. Inhalation of Cinnamon has proven effective for relieving respiratory infections. In Ayurvedic medicine Cinnamon is used to relieve many common complaints such as those already noted and to balance the various doshas or body types: Vata, Pita and Kapha. The trees are cut every two years to just above ground level. The bark is harvested from the new shoots, then dried. The outer bark is stripped away, leaving the inner bark, which is the primary part of the herb used for medicinal purposes. The medicinal value of the herb is attributed to the oil extracted from the inner bark as well as the leaves. Cinnamon bark is one of the most popular food flavoring and a valued commodity on the world market. Because it kills the bacteria that causes tooth decay and gum disease Cinnamon Bark is a common ingredient in many common oral hygiene products like toothpaste, mouthwash and breath fresheners. It is also used for making perfume, soap, chewing gum, lip stick, nasal spray, cough syrup and soda pop drinks. Cinnamon Bark continues to be a valued treatment for various common ailments. As in ancient times modern day herbalists continue to prescribe cinnamon bark as a remedy for nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and indigestion. Chinese herbalists recommend it for asthma sufferers when their symptoms are brought on by cold, digestive disturbances, backache, or menstrual related difficulties. Cinnamon bark is known to regulate blood sugar levels and may reduce the amount of insulin required for glucose metabolism by diabetics. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) researchers found a dose of 1/8 to 1/4 tsp of ground cinnamon to be beneficial in regulating blood glucose levels. I rely on Cinnamon Bark in my health care practice to keep the air fresh and clear of "bugs" and for preventing the spread of infection. Clients absolutely love its fresh, clean scent and enjoy the benefits it so readily bestows that of preventing and relieving cold and flu symptoms. Cinnamons powerful scent is a definite pick-me-up! It is useful for relieving "brain fog," common among chronic pain sufferers, as well as the winter "blahs." Cinnamon Leaf essential oil enhances circulation making it excellent for warming you when you are feeling chilled down to your bones! Try 1-8 drops of Cinnamon Bark or Leaf essential oil blended in 1 ounce of Jojoba oil and massage your feet with a small amount of the mixture then put on your socks and enjoy warm happy feet all day! Keep warm when engaging in winter outdoor sports by rubbing a small amount of this same mixture on your chest and abdominal area, as well as over the lung area on your back. Please note: There are many cheap chemical copies of essential oils available, but these are not recommended for therapeutic use. For best results always use ethically wild crafted or pure, organic essential oils that are pesticide free! CAUTION: An intensely powerful oil to be used with respect and extreme caution. Generally not for skin applications except in weak dilutions of less than 1%. May cause an allergic reaction in some individuals. Due to its stimulating properties should be avoided during pregnancy, by lactating mothers, or young children. How To Get Rid Of Warts - Some Old Remedies

By John Coutts There are a variety of over the counter preparations for treating warts which work with varying degrees of success. But warts usually disappear eventually on their own anyway, though that might take several years. They can come back again though -- in short, warts are unpredictable. It's difficult to know just how to get rid of warts. For generations people have used their own remedies and ideas. These may not be medically approved, but they have been used. Here are a few... 1. One popular method of treating warts is to rub the wart twice a day with the soft inside of a banana skin. Many people have claimed this works, though there seems to be no good reason why. 2. Another similar method is to rub the wart with the inside part of a cut onion, which has had salt sprinkled on it. Do this several times a day for a week or so. 3. My father was a great believer in swabbing a wart with castor oil twice a day. When I was three or four I had several warts on my hands. They vanished in less than a week through this method. Could it have been my faith and trust in my father? Who knows... 4. Rub the juice from an orange or lemon onto the wart, then cover it with a band aid. The acidic nature of the citrus juice is believed to irritate the wart enough to make it go away. 5. Cover the wart in adhesive tape. Use several layers to really cover it up and leave it like that for maybe five days. Then remove the tape for half a day before covering it up again. The wart should go after a week or two. OK, these treatments may not be very scientific, or approved by the medical authorities, but some people believe in them. And what's more, they often work. Good results can perhaps be put down to the power of suggestion, but for anyone who ever pondered on the best way of how to get rid of warts, surely that in itself is a working solution! My opinion is simply that if it works, it works. It doesn't really matter why, does it? John Coutts is an experienced author who writes on a variety of popular subjects. Building Better Family Relationships

By James Monahan At these times when both men and women work for a living, small children are often left at home with a babysitter or at a daycare center while older ones spend the whole day at school. Most of the time, parents have just enough time to spare to just tuck in their kids at night. They sometimes do not even have enough time to talk about their individual lives let alone spend a day of fun together.
But building good relationships with ones children does not really have to be spent the whole day. Little conversations, little gestures of comfort, little things that you do everyday whether they be for an hour or for just a few minutes are enough especially when done with sincerity and commitment to strengthening and building the bonds that you have with your children. Here are some of the ways of building better relationships with your children. Set time for small talks Whether the talks are done inside the car on the way to school or to the day care center; or while being in the comforts of the dinner table; these are good beginnings for building better relationship with children. These are the times when they talk about their life in school or some incident in the play area. Parents can learn a lot from these small conversations. Often, it is in these conversations when parents find out incidents of bullying, difficulties in school and young crushes. Give a hug There is so much good in giving a child a hug. According to research, touch therapy is very effective in building family relationships especially in building bonds between parents and child. It is a good way in expressing your love and concern for kids. In addition to hugs, small kisses and pats on the back are also crucial in building relationships. Leave messages Another effective way of building good relationships with your children is maintaining constant communication in whatever form you can do this. Parents with mobile phones for instance can keep track of their older children through mobile phones. Messages left in a family bulletin board or posted on the refrigerator are also great ways of maintaining your presence in your childs life. Be with them Despite the busy schedules, make an effort to be there when you do have the time. A once-a-month family getaway can do wonders to building closer family ties. Another effective way in building family relationships is finding a common ground and making compromises not only on your schedules but also on your various interests. It is a good idea to take turns going to your favorite places when out on a family trip. Be there on special occasions School presentations and school games are big things for every child. Whatever role they are playing, whether they are the lone tree in the background or the star of the show; whether they are reserves in a basketball game or the power forward, it is important that parents be there to watch the games and the presentations and support their children in their projects. Your physical presence in these kinds of occasions is crucial in building relationships with your child as your attendance will express to your child that they matter to you and that you are willing to give them a portion of their time. Choosing A Cell Phone Plan

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Peter_Lenkefi]Peter Lenkefi Choosing a cell phone plan can be exciting or confusing. The reason is so many options are available and each one is claimed to be the best option. There may be several options available to you but the best option should be one that fits your lifestyle and needs.
There are two major ways to choose a cell phone plan : By considering prepaid or post paid plans, and frequency and area of coverage.
A prepaid service may be suitable for someone who does not use the phone everyday or regularly as the credit ca be extended over a long period of time. Why pay a fixed amount each month for a service you may be using once a while? A prepaid service will not require rigorous background checks like credit checks. So if you have a poor credit rating, this is your obvious choice as credit approval is a requirement for connection to this service. If you are uncertain about future income, prepaid is ideal as there are no monthly service charges to be honored. Additionally, prepaid does not involve bills and a highly mobile person will find the post paid and its resultant bills uncomfortable as he keeps moving away from his permanent address. If you are allergic to paperwork and contracts, stick to post paid as post paid demands contact, documents and a lot of administrative work. Prepaid is also ideal for people who need to conceal their identity as there is no way you can be identified with a prepaid service. One great disadvantage of prepaid is that a lot of features are not available to you.
With regards to coverage and frequency of use factors, where you intend to use the phone and how often you use the phone will determine which service to go for. If you travel a lot, then you will have to go for one that allows you to roam whilst still maintaining your cell number. If the company does not cover your area of business, then it may not be worth going forth.
Again some carriers charge according to the geographical area you would be making the call from so it is prudent to subscribe to the service that will cover your area. On the other hand, if you will remain home for most of the time, then you may have to choose a local service plan as a wider geographical area will cost you more unnecessarily. You may need to ask yourself Am I going to use the phone for emergencies, occasionally or for business? A business phone needs a service that is cheap and highly flexible so you can be able to run your business with great ease and least cost. If you would need the phone for only three hours a month for example, then you may not have to go for an expensive monthly plan which has to be paid for each month irrespective of the usage.
Lastly, do you want a digital or analog service? If you a simple caller with no sophiscated needs, you may need a simple analog service but if you an advanced user you may have to go for a more expensive digital service. Your phone plan is a reflection of your needs and profile. Moderate users should choose the least expensive option to save money and advanced users should opt for enhanced features which come at a greater cost but essentially serve their needs.
